It's Michael here, the founder of Letterjoy, invading our FAQ to explain why this series exists.

In college, one of my favorite classes was a seminar titled "Federalist and Antifederalist Writings". It was my first full read-through of the Federalist Papers, and I loved every minute of it.

This year, a decade removed from that class, I was brainstorming with our team, trying to devise a fun new product to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence, and I thought back to that class, and to the thousands of students and history buffs I've spoken with in the years since. "Is there a cool new way we could higlight the Federalist Papers?"

Queue a few months of product development: We painstakingly replicated the look and feel of first editions of the Federalist Papers, which appeared in the New-York Packet and Independent Journal, and tested prototype after prototype for readability and authenticity.

Now, finally, we're ready to launch the series! I sincerely hope that you enjoy reading these as much as we loved making these.

It depends. Essays are mailed in order, and loop around once an eighty-five essay cycle completes. If your membership starts in April 2026, when this collection begins mailing for the first time, and you join for six months, you'll receive Federalist 1-26.

Yes. All Letterjoy packages include free USPS First-Class postage.Members with mailing addresses outside the United States will incur a modest international postage surcharge.
