Dear readers,
Let's talk presidents! They shape the world around us. We name cities, monuments, and airports for them, but how much do we know about most of them?
Talking about American history is my job, but I'll be the first to admit that, until recently, there were at least two dozen US presidents I knew almost nothing about.
Today, we're fixing that with the Letterjoy Presidential Letters series. You can sign up now for $129. This series includes twenty-six letters mailed over six months, telling the story of presidencies from 1789 through 1969.
We've got a very cool batch of letters, telegrams, and memorandums picked out for you from throughout presidential history.
You'll receive letters from presidents you know well, like George Washington and Theodore Roosevelt, but you'll also receive letters involving presidents that probably didn't come up much in your history class. What's your best Chester Arthur fun fact?
These aren't comprehensive presidential biographies. Each letter is a peek into a critical moment in time for the president at the center of it.
You'll hear from Ike about the Little Rock Nine, George Washington about the Whiskey Rebellion, and Grover Cleveland about the Pullman strike.
As is our custom, each letter is paired with a "postscript" article telling the story of the events and figures within it.
Reading this series is the perfect way to prepare for trivia night, inspire your next reading rabbit-hole, or pick up facts and insights to impress your history teacher.
