Say hello to the Codebreaking Club, a new series for puzzle-loving history buffs.
The Codebreaking Club is a monthly letter series that lets you play codebreaker, deciphering real coded messages from throughout history.
It’s like Sudoku, for spies.
Never solved a cipher before? Not a problem. Every edition of the Codebreaking Club comes with step-by-step instructions for decoding your latest message.
Each month, you’ll receive a coded letter or telegram in the mail from a historical figure. Pen pals include Benjamin Franklin, Benedict Arnold, and Arthur Zimmermann (of Zimmermann telegram fame).
You’ll also receive an article telling the story of your latest pen pal and their secret message, and, if it was intercepted, the codebreakers who first deciphered their message.
You’ll learn about famous centers of codebreaking like Bletchley Park, “Room 40,” and Station Hypo, plus the signals intelligence virtuosos who staffed them.
You can join today for $8.99 per month or try a single code for $10.99.
A Gift That Keeps On Giving
A Codebreaking Club membership is a perfect gift for history-loving friends or relatives. Give a secret code or two as a thank-you or get-well-soon surprise, or a year's worth as a grand birthday, Christmas, or Hannukah surprise.
It’s a gift that keeps on giving, an ongoing activity that will deliver over an hour of fun every month.
The Codebreaking Club is also an excellent introduction to cryptology for STEM, history, and social studies students.
Bulk memberships are available for schools and classrooms, and individual student memberships will soon be available on state ESA marketplaces.
Codebreaking Club messages will go out in the mail in the first week of each calendar month.
