A Memorial Day Letter

Dear readers,

Living in DC, reminders of battlefield sacrifice are ever-present. To the west is Arlington National Cemetery. In the center of the city are memorials to World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and more. Drive an hour in any direction, and you'll pass a battlefield from the Civil War or the War of 1812.

With these reminders ever-present, we do our best to honor those who've sacrificed. We restore and share their letters and tell their stories through our "postscripts," but these stories are only read by people who receive our letters in the mail.

Today, for Memorial Day, we're excited to make one of our best letters of this kind freely available online.

This letter, from our military history series, tells the story of Andrew's Raiders, the first-ever recipients of the Medal of Honor, and a daring railroad chase. You can read and download it below.

For the best experience, we recommend printing this document on nice paper.

In addition, we're pleased to announce that today, we're expanding our discount program for veterans and active-duty service members.

We've always quietly offered a discount for those who serve, but now we're making it easier than ever to claim with an instant self-service tool.

Thank you to all of you who've served your country. We do our best not to take it for granted.

Sincerely yours,

Michael & the Letterjoy Team
